So, when I sold some stuff two weeks ago, the aim was to find a decent WA for the Minolta. Somebody floored me with the donation of a 24mm Cosina that fits the bill perfectly.

Ok, so that fixed that wagon. Next concern was a decent mid-range zoom, but I had low expectations to be honest. Well, I sniped - something I'm getting better at - a fricken unbelievable Vivitar Series 1 28-90mm f2,8-3,5 zoom, serial # 28305202 (Komine manufactured) which puts it in good company, before the Series 1 line became nothing more than a name. The seller reported the lens in flawless condition. My bid ended up being $89 to win it, about $20 more than I had planned to spend on anything then, but this just looked to be one of those deals that I needed to nail down lest it escape.

Well, the lens arrived tonight.... jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Thought I would share it with you guys. Can't wait to shoot a roll with it, will be done very soon.

Any other Vivitar Series 1 owners here?

Haven't used them, but the older ones have an outstanding reputation. Can't wait to see some results.

I have one in Pentax k mount. My wife shoots it some. Good lens, but I just don't do well with zooms.  You got a good deal on yours.

I'm not sure if this is the same... I have a Vivitar Series 1 for a Nikon mount.

...105mm Macro. I think my pictures don't do the lens any justice so I look forward to your pics![/img]

Here we go - the Macro on this lens is something else. Great bokeh, smooth zoom, sharp results. A wonderful piece.

This is one of the lenses I would have liked for my Minoltas if I had the money back when.  Let me know if you see much vignetting against a blue sky. How about a one or two shots at 50mm f4? Can you read a license plate then? (My scientific test for lenses).
