Found this and was wondering if the lens would work on My m39 range finders? If not it still looks like a fun camera but boy I hear all you bitch about how long it takes to shoot a roll though I can rip a few rolls of 36 in an afternoon.

Larry, Chaikas are fun, but $55 seems a bit steep!  Chaikas have (in my experience) very sharp lenses.  They are also as reliable as my old Lada used to be. . . if you know what I mean.  But I have found that lighter fluid goes a long way to improve the works of a Chaika.

These were shot with my Chaika-II:

I have a 28mm/2.8 lens that was made for the Chaika. I wonder if getting a Chaika would allow RF coupled use of Leica lenses.

The film-to-flange distance is different on the Chaike and Leica. Off by about 1mm.

The I-69 is a nice lens. I made ONE (and only one) work with an M8 for  a friend. It was a pain...

Yes, you are right about the film to flange difference.

Re; using the I-69, it surely would not have a cam to couple with the RF on a LTM would it ? Of course I suppose with a 28mm you could scale focus. Is the 1 mm distance greater or lesser than the leica?

It is ~1mm less than the Leica. So when you use this lens on the Leica, you need to file down the stops for the helical to move in the extra amount.

But you could make a little shim and use Leica lenses on the Chaika?  That might be kind of cool....

Larry --  I think Phillip is correct as to the price.  I just purchased the same camera from a seller in the Ukraine for $12.99, no case, instructions, or wrist strap.  It seems to be in very good shape.  I haven't completed the first roll yet.  Dave

I have enough cameras... Prices seem to be dropping again after a simi spike in recent months.
