Folks;

I have not forsaken the forums, merely taking a much-needed break from henning while I get my ducks in a row with finals and prepping for entry to UA. Bear with me.

As for the unsavory exchange taking place in the off-topic forum pertaining to RFf: cease and desist. I've deleted the thread, will leave it at that for now.

If stuff like that pops up and goes unnoticed more than 12 hours, please feel free to shoot me an e-mail at nelsonfoto@cox.net calling my attention to same. If you PM me, use this username (the one I'm posting from) and not my other. E-mail will get to me sooner than a PM.

Best,
Craig

Chickens ducks and bears. Sounds like your life is a bit of a zoo. Or a farm with a bear.

Good to hear that you're still alive and kicking.  Now go and study.  If you're lucky, you can graduate in the top 98% of your class and get a nice state job like me.  But then again, if you graduate in the top 99%, you can run for President.

Craig,

There is an Italian expression for "Good luck!" or  "Break a leg!" one wishes a person who is about to take an exam or perform on stage.

in bocca al lupo!
Literally: "in the mouth of a wolf"

The person answers with:

- Crepi il lupo!!!
Literally "Kill the wolf!"

Never respond with grazie(Thank you) for that would cancel the good wishes

The only response that makes the wish come true is Crepi il lupo

The history of this expression goes back to Roman days. If interested take a peek at:

http://forum.wordreference.com/showthread.php?t=1881

The dialogue in Italian would go like this:
-
So che domani hai un essame . . . in bocca al lupo!!!

I know tomorrow you have an exam, "Lot's of luck, break a leg!"

- Crepi il lupo!!! "Thanks  a lot!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Craig,
in boca al lupo!
Julio,
The Italians have the equivalent of the Spanish Fuerza{/i] as Forza! forza! always repeated twice.
