Lately, I've been showing 50 year old Danish pix. Now, that we're in February, it's time to show some 2006 photos. Below is one taken last week.  The pier, seen through the trees, is my favorite fishing spot.

I'm enjoying every minute. As you know this area, the sad news is the lighthouse restaurant, at the head of the pier, is closed indefinitely. Was a lovely spot to take refreshments out of doors while listening to live music once a week. And they sold live bait, too.

BTW, thanks for that wonderful description of your boyhood excursion to St. Aug in one of my earlier posts. It was papably pure poetry.

I miss St. Aug.  Have a nice plate of paella at El Colombia for me, eh? Any pics of Castillo San Marcos you can manage would be nice, too.

Some fave family shots from 2003 homecoming.

Those are gorgeous photos of your family, Craig. I remember with pleasure seeing some of them in a 2003-2004 post. It sure helps when your subjects are so photogenic.

I took mostly b&w shots of the Castillo San Marco, and think I have some here. Will search for the best ones.  Never tried Paella anywhere in St. Aug., but will try it, as I love that dish if it’s well prepared.

What we gorge ourselves on are raw oysters. BTW, that myth about them being aphrodisiacs is strictly baloney. Never found a dozen of them to work. Four, five, OK, but a dozen, no way! This is all aged fantasy, of course. The Italians have a wonderful word that's appropriate: "magari" " would that it were so." is the English equivalent, but look how many words we need to say what the Italians have distilled down to one succinct word..
