If I want to post a small image to a thread; how do I link that image to a larger image on my Flickr account?

I don't know how Flickr does it, but on Photobucket I go to my account, select the photo(s) and Photobucket automatically generates a clickable thumbnail.  I just copy and paste the link Photobucket gives me.  I'd guess Flickr can do something similar.

The code generated by Flickr is HTML and not respected by our forum software which requires the use of BBcode.

When copying links from Flickr, use the second link provided--the one containing only the URL for the thumb or larger version--or copy the URL from the landing page, found in the browser address bar.

Do the following to link thumbs to original image landing page:

Code:
Replace all { and } with [ and ]

{URL=http://www.flickr.com/photos/nelsonfoto/3320783126/"}{IMG}http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3655/3320783126_0a03e54a2b_t.jpg{/IMG}{/URL}

Do the following to link thumbs to alternate image size, image by itself:

Code:
Replace all { and } with [ and ]

{URL=http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3655/3320783126_b3da2be049_o.jpg"}{IMG}http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3655/3320783126_0a03e54a2b_t.jpg{/IMG}{/URL}

Craig and Brian,
Thanks for the info. I have a Flickr account that I have been using. As I am basically computer illiterate, it seems that Photobucket is easier for me for to use thumbnails. A question tho; Is it possible to post a linked thumbnail only, without all the Photobucket advertising/background?
Thanks,
Gerry

Gerry - I am unfamiliar with Photobucket code. I imagine it could be edited, but editing it might break it.

OK, I've attached this thumbnail using the code generated by Photobucket.  Let's click and see.  I should be only the image, not the Photobucket page.

Now, when I've linked an entire album, then the whole page comes up.

Hope this helps.

OK, that doen't seem to work, clicked on the thumbnail and the entire page came up.  I wondered if it was because I was still logged into my site.  Tried it on the other computer and it did the same.

I'll try this link and see what it does.

This is a direct link to the photo.  Only the photo shows, not the whole page but you don't get a thumbnail.

Of course, I'm fairly computer illiterate, or maybe it's just computer frustrated.

I can type 70 words a minute, but only spell at 10 wpm.

I once posted some Photobucket thumbs here http://nelsonfoto.com/v/showthread.php?t=15475&highlight=leesburg, and they come up as desired (photo only).  You might want to compare the code in my message with what you are using.

I too had the same problem with Photobucket recently. They made a change in the code that is generated a few months ago. Sandeha came up with the answer:

Just looked ... under Account Options>Album Settings, there is a tick box if you want images to Link Back To Album.  Untick that?

That did the trick for me. Whole thread here.
