I can't figure out where in the Picasa editor, I can reduce the size of the photo other than transmitting by email. I normally download from Photobucket, but they ask for a smaller file (800pix max) than the much larger file jpeg transferred from my camera (Canon A720 IS).

I'm using Picasa in lieu of PS7, because I can't completely install it into my "new" (refurbished)IBM Think Pad T30. My Compaq Armada has the original PS 7 in it, but that laptop is not functioning well. When I tried installing PS7 into the T30 I see the normal PS background, but get an error message saying "Due to lack of  missing personal information PS is closing down" and it does, everytime I try to open it.. It looks like I have all the necessary files, except the important " .exe" file. I've successfully installed this same PS7 into the Compaq Armada E700 several times. I think I ran out of times I'm allowed to install it. Woe is me!

I prefer PS to Picasa, Photo Plus  or Gimp and I'm light on $s to pay for a new PS or elements. I can go for a 30 free trial when I get back home tomorrow. It will be a month's reprieve. I believe they send a trial disk, which will take some time. I plan to start selling cameras and lenses in early April to get some cash. What's a good bargain in graphic software that has the features of elements.

I always appreciate any suggestions or advice from the NFF gang.

Les, I mainly use Picasa as just a viewer and to upload to Picasaweb (it's a good service and free :2yippee:). For a little more hands-on control, download Irfanview. It is a free download, and doesn't take many system resources to run. Even though I have PS, I use it at work for batch resizes because it loads faster and get the job done quickly.

Thanks a million Justin!

Downloading IrfanView went smoothly. It's perfect for resizing what I edit in Picasa. I really appreciate your quick response. I plan to post a few pics before stowing my T30.

Our octogenarian bones warmed well for three months and now it's time for this snowbird to fly back to his native New England and Claudia to her adopted home since 1952.

Thanks again!

Les, you can use Export to resize in Picasa. It's natural because you want the changed photo to be saved in a different place anyway, so this operation combines the "copy to new location" with "resize on the fly." And you can select any common width and compression ratio for the finished result.

Thanks Don,

I thought I tried every possibility in Picasa to discover a means to resize, but I missed the "Export" route, which has everything I need. I didn't realize there was a secret door which led to resizing. It's right of "Alice in Wonderland."
