I am fairly new to PS and I have been seeing a lot of Duotoned and Tritoned images so far in the various posts.

Does anyone have or is anyone willing to give a basic description of how this is done?  It would be much appreciated.   Maybe in the form of links or if someone can personally explain it.    I have begun to research it a  bit on the internet but there seem to be a million ways to go about it.   I was hoping someone might have a tried and true method they would be willing to share.

Thanks,

Jim.

In a nutshell - Open the image you wish to make duotone, tri-tone, quad-tone, whatever. You will need to convert the image into greyscale. While doing this IMAGE > MODE >GREYSCALE, you will no doubt see an option for duotone. Once you have the image in greyscale, you will be able to go IMAGE > MODE >DUOTONE.

A dialog should open. See if you can get that far. If so, tinker. If still confused, say so, and I'll gladly post further info.
