Here are a couple of photos I entered in our photo club's monthly projected images competition - can I get your thoughts? The theme was 'The eyes have it'.

This one scored 6/6/9 from 3 judges

and this one got 7/7/10

Agree? Disagree?
Why?

It has been mentioned that this area doesn't get enough participation, so I thought I'd try to help out.
The first one I actually find quite appealing. It makes me want to look closer. Very artistic.
The second one looks like some people I've known. It's a good photo, but I think it would be better if it included more of the head.
I think I used to work for that guy. Cheesy

They both seem kind of gimmicky to me. More graphic art than photography.

Thank you for your comments! I feel I am not so 'creative' sometimes - I was stretching a bit here Smiley

Well as for the first one I think Andy Warhol did that and it is over done the second reminds me of an ad for a B movie.

 Glenn made me do this.

Andre, I agree with the "graphic art" assessment here on the first one, but that doesn't make it a bad thing.  It's eye-catching, pardon the pun, and nicely put together.  It would make a good graphic for some kind of advertisement.

The second one, once I looked at the larger image, was pretty cool in that you used candle flames for the pupils (in the thumbnail it looked like neon or similar).  In the end it reminded me of the book cover for a Stephen King novel.

So I feel that both of these lean more toward the commercial aspect and away from "art", per se.

Just my tuppence.
