I'm pleased to say that 3 of my photographs made it into the Ohio Cemetery Alliance Art show! The fun thing about it is that I entered 5 pieces: 2 Digital 35mm, 1 Holga, 2 Rolleiflex... they accepted the Holga and Rolleiflex shots. Old Skool wins out!!! The judge was the most famous photog in Cleveland. They announce the winners on the first Sunday in June, not sure if I'll get anything but happy to be there just the same. And the best part? The exhibit is being held at the library where I work, what are the odds? There's a chance that one or more of my pieces might make it into an exhibit at the Cleveland Public Library, the judge is giving a lecture on Stieglitz and he may take 20 or so pieces from the show with him to be housed in the special collections room. How fun! Thanks to the Major for his wonderful processing and printing, the prints are stunning. Here's my blog post about it, you can view the entries here: http://thezenlibrarian.wordpress.com/2009/05/13/lo-fi-medium-format-wins-out/

Congratulations! Those are excellent, nice to see a judge that knows what is what.
It must be a treat to have an exhibit right where you are working!

Thanks very much, you guys!! Pete, that broken headstone is one of the oldest in the county, that feller was a real pioneer who came here from Connecticut. That cemetery is abandoned and in the middle of a field about a mile from any road, you really have to know where it is to find it. It's well worth the trip though! Tomorrow morning I'm headed off to Asheville, NC where I hope to do some more cemetery photography.... yipppee!!

Yeah! I remember that mourning angel from a previous post, correct? Love it.
Congrats on keeping that old R'flex purring!

Thanks for all the great words, guys! I'm happy to report that I won in the monuments/statuary category!! This is the winner: What's funny is that I wasn't going to enter this one at all, it was a last minute decision even to put it in. I prefer the angel over it for sure, but whatever floats the judge's boat! The piece will be going to Cleveland Public Library after the Cemetery show ends to be included in their special collections room for a short time. I believe it will also be included in an article in the Scene magazine, our local Cleveland entertainment rag. This makes me excited to go out and hunt down more cemeteries for next year's show!
