Digital sure is great sometimes. 270 shots yesterday (which I'm pretty sure is a record shattering number for me) mostyl of subjects that were more about chance than skill. Guilt free trigger pulling and then delete all but 40 shots at the end of the day.

Near 1:1 magnification with a light breeze almost constantly blowing it around made it nearly impossible to get it right the first time. So nice to be able to shoot 2 rolls worth of film on one subject and then delete all but a couple of them.

Then there was having fun with the dog:

It's also great to have a camera with a 1/8000 shutter speed. Gotta love shooting at f/1.8 on a sunny day.

Digital sure does have its advantages some times. Great captures Alan - the shots of Rudy are hilarious.

Alan,

Your shots are spectacular.  The feeding spider's something.  It looks like the dog's gonna shake his fool head off!

It's kinda scary.  I did a VERY similar thing this morning.  I sure wouldn't have gotten these with film.  Hurts me a little to say it, but I love digital too, in its place.

That daddy long legs is cool. Surprising amount of detail and low noise on the original image being it was shot at ISO 3200. I need to get over my fear of shooting my 5D over ISO 100. I know the results will be good but I have have a hard time cranking it up.

I really liked the snail too.

Alan,

Your shots are all very good.  I particularly like the dog shots.  Your combination of shutter speed plus the dog's shaking dry make for a fascinating image.

The dog made me laugh out loud!  I must come here more often for laughter therapy: first there was the essay on philosophy by Dennis with captivating pictures and now there is your dog!

I could care less what camera - those are fantastic shots!

The spider should be on the cover of a nature magazine.  Your dog drying off - well, that brings a smile to anyones face.  Great stuff!

Thanks for the positive comments. I'm thinking I'll have to do some more of Rudy in the near future. I won't have to ask him twice to go into the water.
