Fishing boats are very photogenic (just ask Julio).  The pair below are from Chincoteague, Virginia.  Let's see a fishing boat photo from everyone who looks at this thread. [Yes, I see that I must clean the sensor on my Pentax K100D.]

They seemed to have been in a hurry to give up on fishing and get into the bar.

Ready to sail!

Borderline on topic, but the fishermen on those boats are also good subjects - this one is heavily processed, I had it as desktop for some time.

Wow great subject, wonderful work so far. Gerry- I missed your fog shot if you'd posted it before- fantastic!

Fishin' boats happen to be a favorite subject of mine, too.

Technically, this is a shrimp boat.

The rigging can be interesting, too.

Here are some from a trip we took to Scotland in 2004.  These were all taken with a Canon A70 (that was recently repaired by Canon at no charge!).  That is Castle Moil on the hill.  We were told that the locals had a chain between it and the mainland in the background.  You paid up or got bashed if you wanted to get through.  Toll roads are nothing new.

Ansco ShurFlash box camera on a rainy day. Tokeland Wa.{near Marcy's home}?

Same boat that is in the 1st picture.

Exakta VX   50mm  Angenieux  or
maybe 100mm Meyer Trioplan ?
I only took 2 cameras on the trip, the Exakta and the Ansco.

Awesome landscapes in Scotland!

The landscapes were indeed awesome.  Wild and romantic vistas at every turn.  We had a great time.  Here is the whole batch if you have the time:

Compliments to all the other folks who posted fishing boats. They are all top notch, IMO. And a special thanks to James for coming up with the topic and a message, which ignited an enthusiastic response. BTW, it's more than "Just another fishing boat thread" It worked for me as a premature spring tonic.

Went out yesterday and shot the same shrimp boats at one of several St Augustine fish piers with Oly C4000Z and didn't check playback. They were all hopelessly overexposured. Why? I have no idea. Took a zillion shots in L.A. last week and none was overexposed.

I reset to camera default settings this AM and went back and all the boats were in the same place.

I'm liking this thread!  Everybody's posted some great shots.  Here are a couple I had to dig around for, shot in downtown Corpus Christi, 2007.  Shot with a Brownie Hawkeye, film unknown but probably Tri-X Pan:

Like Rose, I think the rigging is attractive in its own way:

Everyone - The quality and variety of images posted are impressive.  These 'lowly' craft certainly have many ways to please the eye with their colors, shapes, and details (plus, the nice places they go).

Les - It's very good to see that your weather has improved.  Wish I could join you on that pier.
