Well I finally got through a whole roll with my newish XA2. I ran a test roll of color neg through it to see if the meter was accurate. It seemed to be underexposing a bit, so when I loaded it with Neopan 400 I set the film speed at 100. The negs look about like the Neopan 400 when I shoot it at 400, so I guess it's underexposing by 2 stops. The results do look pretty nice, though. Here are the first two prints I've made from the roll.

Those are awesome.  But the boxer photo is vexing me: He's standing straight up, but the lake's draining to the right.  Was the camera, and the dog tilted?  Huh

Wonderful pictures. The XA2 is a favorite of mine. I like its lens better than the one in the XA.

Thanks guys! I was actually a bit hesitant with the zone focus aspect, but it's turned out pretty easy to get things in focus.

Scott,
It could be that the landscape is not level.Part is elevated, hiding part of the lake, so the lake looks tilted.

Jason, I love these.  Fantastic work here.

I was shooting with my own XA-2 on Thursday, just a test roll to try out my new HC-110 developer, and I didn't get anything nearly as nice as your stuff.

I do like the zone focus, but beware of the shifting focus lever: when you close the clamshell, it defaults to the middle setting.

Thank you! It's a hill, though. The parking lot is about 20 ft higher than the lake level and it slopes down to the lake.

Great shots, especially that second one. That zone focus is pretty amazing, isn't it? You think - this can't possibly be right - and then the photos come back sharp sharp sharp. Maitani and his crew were great designers.

Jason, always fun to see your prints.

It fascinates me because your selection of frames to print is so different than mine. Smiley
