I bought a Jupiter 12 from e$ay from mother Russia with a humungus rear cap. On closer inspection, I deduced it was a FED 4. In not great shape, at all. Funny, seller said it was in excellent condition and everything functions. Meter needle is kaput, range finder so bad, Ted Williams couldnt make two images coincide. But I'm trying to do a Dr. Frankenstein (or is it "stien"---steeeen.) Ask Gene Wilder!

Now that I have your attention, or put you to sleep, here is the question:

In attached photo, shouldn't there be a wide bore take up spool on  the  slotted shaft attached to advanced lever? If so, where can I get one in the western hemisphere? Shutter seems to work.

Now the toughest task of all to try to post the portrait detail of this FSU not-so-look-a-like, wannabe, M3

Ah, but Les, you got stamina.

Did you see that the last link has an 's' at the end and the first one had an 'm'?  I don't know Flickr, but maybe they stand for small and medium.  Is there an 'L' version anywhere that you could link to?

Les -

Take care not to put extra spaces in the URL. Image was not appearing due to added leading and trailing space at ends of URL, buffering the containers, like so:

Removing the space after ] and before http, and the space after jpg before [ gives us a good embedded image.

As for the answer to the take-up question.... No, you do not need an added take-up spool. Just stick your leader into one of the slots and wind'er up!

Les, I have a FED5.  It is the same, except mine does not have any rust on the sprocket shaft.  The takeup "spool" is the same.  There is nothing else.  Just thread the film into that slot, and it should work.
Have fun...
