Oooh - that orthochromatic looks fun!  And processed as a chrome?  Hmm...

What about going back to a possible "happy medium" - the 5x7"?

The cameras aren't too big, the film's cheaper than 8x10", and you can use a 4x5 reducing back without feeling like a tw@t Wink  Plenty of lenses around too.

Ok, I'm thinking more about this now.  My Seneca has front rise/fall/shift, rear tilt/swing.  How much do I need front tilt?  Really?  Having never used it, I guess I don't know if I am missing it.

Say I don't need it: Then I've got the 5x7 with associated glass (mostly the 121 and 210) and the Graflok with the same lenses.  Can shoot a lot with that.  And not feel like a tw@t doing it, though I'm not sure what that means... :p

The money from the 8x10 sales could buy a lot film, or even a good long zoom for the 20D.  Hmm...

With back tilts and front rise 'n fall, you can fake front tilts.  Messy, but it works.

A definition of a tw@t can be found here Cheesy

late to the party, but if the cost of film is a barrier to entry, you can shoot 8x10 affordably:

http://www.zzmedical.com/zencart/fuji-midup-duplicating-xray-film-p-513.html

for just a few examples, around $.40 a sheet. slow (EI 3 or so...), but beautiful tonality. (and cheap as hell)

there are other xray suppliers, and traditional xray film, though double coated, works remarkably well. Dupe film is single coated and my preferred film for general shooting.

Well, my first foray into new 4x5 film-on-the-cheap is exposing now.  Efke PL 25 M, mega close-up, 4:20 exposure at f/45.  Traded a box for a few old 5x7 holders.  We shall see.

You and me, Larry.  Couldn't find anything reasonable on PL 25 in HC-110 dil H, except for a comment that it should respond like APX25.  So, starting with the dil B time, doubled, minus 15% for constant agitation, rounded up a little, end up with 10:20 at 20C.  Fingers crossed on this - have wanted to try Efke 25 for years...

I find the 25 and 50 are pretty nice but I used Rodinal 1-100 for both. And also only in 35mm and 120.

Well, the negative's drying, and though I have a horrible time judging negatives before scanning, it looks pretty stankin' good...
