Hi everyone

I know, it's been a long time.  And I still have not got around to showing you the photo of myself and Paul taken in Wellington, New Zealand last March.

My life has taken quite a U-turn.  I may have mentioned that after two years on the bleachers I couldn't stand it any longer and went back to the bar.  Started in April.  Things were slow at first, so I wrote an article for our State journal.  This is the link (and it has a photo which I took with my Nikkormat and a 50mm nikkor way back in about 1966/1967:

http://www.hearsay.org.au/

Just follow the link and scroll down to 'Reminiscing' either in the left column or in the body of the journal where there is a little photo of a guy looking downwards ...

Since then everything has speeded up - like warp speed!  I have been too busy to take photos or to develop the two rolls I put through the M4 which has come back from Sherry Krauter with the 35 Summaron, the 50 Summicron and 90 Elmar f4.

It's criminal I know ;-)

However I have just finished a long trial and have a few days to loaf about, so I am hoping to contribute a bit more here once again.

It's been a good feeling to drop by - I am looking forward to browsing all your posts over the last few weeks.

all the best

Nice to hear from you Dan. Do you remember what camera you would have used for that portrait back then?

I had my own experience with the law recently when was empanelled on a jury trial. Quite an enlightening experience!

I have been on both sides of the law. Best I remember was being on a grand jury. Worst was I was wrongly accused of a terrible crime by a person and it took some time to clear my name.

 Again welcome back

Wayne - it was a Nikkormat Ftn with a 50mm nikkor - I think an f2.8.  Here is a larger view of the original photo.

Philip - Julio - thanks for your comments.  I really enjoyed dredging those episodes from the deep recesses of what I like to call my mind.
Larry - yep, you get to be the Judge!  Seriously I am sorry to hear that you have had a tough time with the law.  Truth and the real facts are so very hard to get at sometimes.  Thank God that you cleared your name in the end.  I trust you feel a bit easier about it now.

Dan,

Glad to see you posting again and enriching us with your vivid stories and top notch photos.

So, you're back at the other kind of bar. Do barristers and judges still wear wigs in Australia? How about a shot of you in one?

Looking forward to see the pics you took with Paul during your spring visit to New Zealand.

Les, hello!  and thank you for the kind words.

Yes we do wear wigs and gowns.  However there is no chance of you seeing a photo of me in full drag!  Some of my colleagues proceed across the road to court in full regalia but, while I will don the robes before leaving I think the wig in a modern city street is ridiculous.  In our summer the whole thing looks quite mad.  [remember that Noel Coward song, "mad dogs and englishmen go out in the midday sun"? with suitable adaptations it could apply to barristers in their gear during an Aussie summer - of course the courts themselves are air-conditioned]

But I have taken a shot of the wig for you after reading your post.  It's on film so developing won't take place until next weekend.

Will attend to the shot of Paul real soon.  I remember it from time to time then get distracted by work.

I always wondered what the reason for the wigs was.
