...so a lot of you know that I followed in Diwan Bhathal's footsteps a couple of years ago, and modified my Brownie Hawkeye to take a tripod and a cable release (see
this link), but the other day I realized that strap lugs would really come in handy. I looked around my local Home
De(s)pot and found some picture hanging D-rings, the kind that attach to the frame so you can either hang your pic on a nail, or use two to string wire across. They take one screw each. These are the exact ones below (internet pic, not mine):

These screws are case-hardened so I used some softer-metal ones that I already had, so I could snip off the ends on the inside.
I drilled a pilot hole (go slow here, Bakelite is brittle!) on each side of the front edge of the back cover (closer to the top), and carefully screwed in the D-rings. It was easier to snip off the excess threads while the screws were loose, but I used the screw in full to thread the hole first, then removed it and snipped, and re-installed. After a quick test with a camera strap (viola!

success!), I removed the screws again, coated them with household cement, and reinstalled the D-rings.
The place where I drilled the holes seemed to be the best location, since there's a little bit of clearance on either side of the film cone, where the top spool rests. See pics below for more detail:

It was very easy to do this, and will be even easier for you, since I've laid it all out for you here. Good luck!
