terminology question - folding cameras

Does anyone know if there is a specific term for the type of folding camera that has front that extends straight out on struts - à la Kodak Jiffy?

I'm trying to identify a camera for sale locally and haven't locked onto the magic search term that's getting me the info that I want.  I've been trying things like "pop out front" (which scored a few Kodak Jiffys), "crossed struts", "face plate", "lens board", "scissor struts", "scissors struts".  I'm coming up empty.

I'm trying to figure out what <a href="http://img1.classistatic.com/cps/kj/100811/768r7/2466b27_20.jpeg">this</a> camera is.  Those are beefy looking struts - and different from the Kodak ones that I've seen.  And the lens-shutter doesn't appear to be complete bottom-of-the-barrel either, though it's difficult to tell much from the photo.

A can't afford a copy of McKeown's ;-)

Bill, that's a Kodak Flash Bantam, which took 828 film.  The flash that's next to it doesn't go with it.  Here's a full-frontal pic (not mine):


I had one and used it a few times with re-spooled 35mm film.  It's got a nice, sharp lens, and excellent close-up ability, but only 8 pics per roll, so there's at least two drawbacks to it (the first being that 828 film don't exist no mo').

Thanks Pete.  I know that I looked up a Kodak Bantam - but what I saw didn't match <re-check; ah, the one that I saw was the pretty art-deco one>.

Yours looks pretty good.

The seller says that he was given several cameras by an older neighbor.  If I check out his stuff I'll see if there are any 828 spools kicking around among everything.

I think someone here was making them.... problem is backing paper you have to slit some 120 or so paper then re number it to use the nice little red window.

It's a green window in the Bantams, I don't know why.

Panchromatic film I figure. I still even with my cameras put black tape over the windows... I do have a 620 camera with a green window. It was a cheap thing no name like a Diana from a gas station give away... I think it was Sinclair .. Dino in the tank thing.

Those are scissor struts, although somewhat small.
