The subject line says it.  Tomorrow is Aug 28th and that's International 828 Day.  I've just rolled up a bunch of 35mm into my Kodak Flash Bantam.  I've never used the Bantam before and my fingers are crossed.

Anyone else able to surf the 828 tide?

Ain't it hard to take pictures with yer fingers crossed?  Best of luck and have fun with your shooting, Philip!  This is one of those special days what I can't participate in, since I sold off my own Bantam last year to one of your countrymen (and fellow NFFer, Lanceleader).

Man, missed this one.  But now I have a year to dig my Kodak Pony out and get it in shape.  And find some film.

I hope you will.  And any time's a good time to practice! Smiley

I just put three of my 828 Day shots up on Flickr:  they are in a set at http://www.flickr.com/photos/flipflik/sets/72157624835570836/with/4937925441/.

By the way, most or all modern films are on that quite heavy polyethylene (Estar?) base which is thicker than the film I used to develop myself before about 2000.  It bends with more difficulty and takes up more space than thinner film.  I hoped to fit an entire 36-exposure roll of Fuji NPS160 on the 828 spool but only about two-thirds of it would fit.  I was pretty profligate in winding it but still got 15 or18 shots on it.  Next time, I'll start with a 24-exposure roll as I'll waste less.  (Luckily, most of the expired film I've bought lately is in 24-exp rolls.)

And of course, unless you're handier than I am, you'll need a second 828 spool. There was a wonderful person last year on Flickr who was giving them away as she came across them. She must have given away a dozen, and that's how I got my extra.  But you may have to buy a second 828 camera to get a spool.

Dean Williams was making spools for outdated formats, IIRC. I can't find the thread now.

What was I thinking? -- I bought a couple of Dean's spools. That's what I used this past weekend.  If they are still available, I'd recommend them!
