For at least five years I have been drawn to this book of photos by Sid Avery.  It has sat all that time (and probably longer) in a second hand bookshop at the beach which is frequented by my wife.  Almost every swim, bike ride or ramble on foot seems to end up there and I have had a delicious time browsing the photos and reading the text.  These are not the best samples of the quality of the light and the tones.  I held off buying it because of the price - $22.00 - but finally I was stricken by the thought that someone might one day buy it and I would find the loss difficult to bear.  So I coughed up the $22 last weekend and ran off these quick scans for you.  I'll pop in a few others later when I have more time.

Here is a quiz.  Can those of you old enough to remember identify this young thing ?

You will of course have no difficulty recognising the King of Siam

Yep- looks like Audrey Hepburn to me- and riding her bike on some studio lot, no doubt.

I'm a big Bogie fan, myself.

Nice snag, Dan. I've done that myself- not always so lucky for it to still be there.

Yep, that's Audrey all right!

That's a great find!  I'd love to see more.

Audrey Hepburn indeed - you guys (and Rose) are good!

I shall scan some others this weekend.  Some are hilarious.
