When I traded my Kodak Medalist II to fellow NFFer miztli (Moises) last year, I got three cameras for it, one of which was an Ansco Karomat (twin step-brother to the Agfa Karat -- see how they added om to Karat?  Must be the Zen version).  Unfortunately, the Karomat had a pretty bad light leak, so I wasn't able to use it.

Until now!  The Karomat now has a custom-made Bel-Jac (and if you don't know what that is, you've been away from NFF for a while, I guess), and a test roll (pics to follow soon) shows that the light leak, she ees feex!  I'm very pleased, because the Karomat is a rare bird and I'm glad to have her in my collection.

Click here to see pics with and without the Bel-Jac.

The Karomat is an outstanding camera, as you've found out.  Replacing the bellows, though, is a nightmare, or nigh on impossible.  Good on ya fer fixing it with that Bel-Jac.  Really elegant solution.

Thanks, Scott.  I know you've got (or had) an Agfa Karat on which you replaced the bellows, so you would know about that.

Another nice save by the BelJac! I did not know that the Karat had an Ansco twin.

Thanks, Julio.  Yup, there's another one.  Seems as if Ansco had more models not copied by Agfa than the other way round: Anscoflex (the green one), Rediflex, Readyflash....

Thanks, Moises!  Great to hear from you.  How's your Bel-Jac working out for you?

Nice save, Pete!
I quite like the picture with the clouds reflection on the puddle.  Very Texas Summer-ish.
