A bit of news and one more bullet point on my CV.
I had the pleasure yesterday of spending the day at the BBC studios in Bridgend where they are currently shooting a new series of "Upstairs Downstairs". You might recall the successful series from the 1970s that ran for several seasons and sold widely abroad. This is not news in itself as it has been in the press for some time. They have written three hour-long feature episodes that will air in December.
My role in this was to shoot some stills a la Cecil Beaton and instruct the actor in how Beaton would have held and used a Rolleiflex. Using my 1933 Rollei with wireless flash was a challenge indeed, but collaboration with the various arts and graphics assistents was huge fun, as was getting to meet new folks, from make-up to sparks.
Some of you might catch it when episode three goes out at Christmas time, the rest of the world will no doubt have to wait a bit. I'll have to wait for the DVD anyway, as I'll be spending Christmas on a beach in Uruguay.

Cool Sandeha - that would have been a hoot & I'm sure you would've been a good tutor.
BTW the ABC here is also known as "Auntie", so I guess we inherited that from you lot.

OK, the "Auntie" reference was completely lost on me, so I'm glad Wayne threw us Yanks a bone here so we could get it. Sandeha, that's a terrific thing for you! How were you contacted? Are you a famous photographer over there, or sump'n? I have no idea of any NFFer's local reputation or business success, I'm sorry to say. I remember "Upstairs, Downstairs" by osmosis only, since it was on when I was a boy and my parents didn't watch it. When I was watching "Sesame Street" or "The Electric Company" (two kids' shows that were big in the 70s on Public Broadcasting), there would be a promo between the shows from time to time.

Well Sandeha, I don't know if I've told you, or if it matters, but I'm proud of you, and proud to know you.
Pete - Morgan Freeman had a start on Electric Company. Remember that? "Speed Reader" or sumthin'.

Morgan Freeman was "Easy Reader" and "Vincent the Vegetable Vampire", among other characters. He and Rita Moreno were the only famous regulars on the show, although Bill Cosby made several guest appearances.

The actual shots, a portrait and some contact sheets, will remain under wrap as the BBC have a right to exclusive use, (I retain copyright, of course) but there are some shots from the day on my FB page - http://www.facebook.com/visualrecordsphotography

The pics are all fine, as usual, but what I find outstanding is that you have your own shirts! I want one!

LOL, Glenn, no, that wasn't necessary. This was more of a boudoir scene - up close and personal.
