A lot of us seem to be experimenting with coffee as a developer. Figured we needed a thread for it! I gave Caffenol C-M a try tonight! It's my second attempt at developing with coffee, but my first with this recipe (available here: http://caffenol.blogspot.com/2010/08/recipes.html). Last time, I used a roll of Tri-X. This time, I used Arista Legacy 100 (aka Acros). The slower speed film definitely works better. Much less grain & much sharper. I souped it for 15 minutes at 68F, as per the instructions.

A good idea, Nathan, and good job on the developing. Over at the link you posted it looks like "Caffenol-C-M" is the standard recipe for Caffenol-C, so the M must mean something to Reinhold. It's been a while since I've developed anything in Caffenol-C at all, but I've almost always liked the results. Shantou ERA 100 35mm film: Expired Verichrome Pan 127 on a Waldorf Minicam:

I believe it means "medium" for medium fast. I'd like to try his C-L recipe, but I need to find some potassium bromide. Any ideas on where to find it?

This morning I souped a 1971-vintage roll of Verichrome Pan in C-C for 11 minutes, and got some pretty good images. There was some staining of the neg but only a beige tone, and no fogging at all. Dropped it off at the lab for a scan and will have that this afternoon.

Those are real nice Pete. I am wondering if there is anything that you can't do with Coffee.

That's pretty stinkin' cool, Pete. Amazing that the Caff-C can pull all that out of such old film. Like the shots - gonna have to start using the developer again. When I get more film...

Wow! Been a long time since I posted in this thread!! Finally got around to working with Caffenol again over the weekend. Souped up a roll of Arista Premium in Caffenol C-L, stand developed for 70 minutes @ 68 degrees. I tried stand development with Rodinal a couple of times, but wasn't happy with the results, so I was wary of trying it again. Boy, am I glad I did! I'm quite pleased with this development & I think it may become my go-to method. Yay coffee!!
