Epson R2400

Is anyone using this printer? Do you/did you have a problem with the printed (color) image being darker and the colors not as accurate as the actual image? If so, how did you correct this? I use Epson ink, paper and ICC profiles. Turned off Epson color mgmnt and printed perceptual and relative colormetric with Elements 7 as control. I have brightened the image by 25-35%. The print is still darker and the color not as accurate as I would like. Also, I have calibrated my lcd monitor and am using Adobe RGB with Elements 7. Windows 7, 32 bit.
Thanks for any help.
Gerry
Forgot to add that I have been using Epson R1800 w/o problems.

If I'm not mistaken, wfournier here uses that printer. He's done black and white and some color on it for me, all good but I think B&W is really that printers thing. Send him an email as he's not on here much of late...

My friend has one of these (well, just got it back after a major service).
He went through no end of grief trying to get things just right - calibrated monitor, correct profiles, etc. In the end he got some custom profiles made by a local colour management person, and hasn't had a problem since.
He's recommend to one or two other people with similar printer and problems to get the custom profile - they've all been glad they did. He reckons it cost less for the profiles than the ink he wasted trying to get things right by trial and error!

This is a common issue with R2400 owners. Most often the issue is down to the brightness of the display, especially LCD monitors where the monitor is set too bright. When you are calibrating the brightness/luminance you need to set your calibration puck to calibrate the monitor somewhere in the 105 to 110 range. That should get you pretty close. After that, a custom profile for your printer, ink and each paper type will get you even closer. Finally, you need a light source for viewing the final print that is correct. That should get you going.

With your calibration puck and software, it might refer to the cd/m2 (squared) or intensity number.

Thanks for your input.
Paul; So far in my efforts to correct this, ink costs have been staggering!!
I just re-calibrated the monitor.
It looks like a custom profile is in order. Now I just need to find someone that is competent.
Thanks again.
