Is anyone making any photography-related new years resolutions?

The one that I have cemented thus far is: make more prints.  I need a better connection to my own photography.  Digital is great (for me) and is right where I want to be right now, but I let many photos sit and languish on the hard drive. (I did the same thing when I was shooting film).  So, I'm making it a goal of mine to print more.  Not sure if I should set something specific like "one good print a month" or something like that, but do I tend to do better when I have a specific goal in mind.

I also should add: "Shoot more B&W."  For a couple months now my DSLR has been set to B&W mode (RAW) so that both the review on-camera and the default rendering on the PC are in B&W.  I end up having to make a choice to revert to the original color image if I want to.  But even with this "encouragement" to stay in B&W I find that I'm not seeing the tones correctly before pressing the shutter button and I'm not all that happy with the B&W image.  I figure this is just something that requires practice, so I should keep it on my list as well.

Anyone else?

My immediate resolution is to enter a 12-step program for my GAS affliction and see can I reduce my existing mountain of stuff.  Stop laughing at me, Larry!

I'm with you on this one.  I visit other folks houses and they have their photos on the walls.  I have very very few, especially given the amount that I usually shoot.  I resolve to mount and hang more of my 'keeper' shots (usually shots of my kids; I don't really have time to get out and do planned shoots of trees, rocks, cars, etc.).

Do others find this?  Is it in part because few of our shots really strike us as good enough to hang?

cheers!
Bill
p.s. and more b&w film too - though that involves finding/taking the time to develop and scan.

Bill,

I think that's part of it: I'm my own worst critic.  So I'm always looking down (har?) at my images wondering why anyone (let alone me) would want this on their wall.

In an effort to overcome this feeling, I gave prints to all my family members for Christmas.  Each received a different one (4x6 or 5x7 matted) from my Chicago lunch-hour series.  It felt good to get photos out there, which pushed me to having 2011 be a print-oriented year.

I do have some plans. Still trying to sort them out. Some of that will involve promoting existing work. I could spend the whole year just doing that and it would be a good thing to do- except that I'd rather be creating new work.

For sure, I will be doing floral work with the 7d and maybe even rent a few of the new Zeiss lenses for fun, but that won't happen until April.

I want to shoot wide angle medium format, probably black and white (read 'cemetery work') but not sure if I have a budget for it.

Will put myself to work on at least one new series as yet to be determined.
The new year is open to a lot.
I'm thankful for that!

Today I was thinking that I should try to create at least one good 4x5 image per week. Also, I need to get my PA Hunting Camp website up!
