Yeah, Detroit's a pit.  Used to dread going there when I was an official Michigander.  Lived in Michigan for 20 years, and never recall one pleasant trip to the east side of the state...

Beautiful photographs, but very sad and lonely scenes.

I heard that the city is almost bankrupt. I've never been downtown, only visited the suburb once or twice for work long time ago.

A friend of mine went to and through detroit a few years back. these pictures really only tell half the story there is so much neglect and disuse.(and there is only so much one can document...) on the other hand i suppose the ruins will become an anthropologist's paradise, much like chernobyl, witnessing the slow death of a city as it occurs.

Netvertheless, these are powerful images.
