When using Safari I find that if I try to post a reply I am met with a message in red saying that my session has timed out - that is after a few seconds!
what am I doing???  I cannot get it to let me post.  Even if I log in again.  I go through the same routine all over again, and again.

I am finding that I cannot use Safari because of this.  Except to look at my own pics.

And - dammit! - in Firefox I cannot see any pics I have posted while I can see those posted by others!

So I use Firefox to send messages - and upload pics even though I can't see them to check what's happening - then go to Safari to see what I have uploaded.

I know it sounds mad.

Thanks Paul - am on firefox right now - but have to go to bed ...

hey! on my wife's iMac I can see my own pics - for example in those threads in the SLR/Rangefinder forum.

It must be something to do with my new Mac laptop - it is running Snow Leopard.  That's the machine on which I am having the problems.

Hit the sack.  Not worth worrying about if this Mac has no problems - likely to be hardware specific, or something in the OS and software under Snow Leopard

many thanks

Open Safari and go to Safari - Preferences.  Open the Appearance tab and make sure "Display images when page opens" is checked.

Under the Advanced tab, make sure Style Sheet is set to "None Selected".

Do you have any ad filter software / proxy?

It won't be a hardware problem.

Paul - thanks for your help, I am forced to send this to you via Firefox

While in Safari - checked my Preferences and they were setup as you described.  So I simply unchecked the block pop up windows item in addition to lower the barriers.

then to send this message - but

Nope:  the dreaded notice appeared - - -

"The  following error or errors occurred while posting this message:
Your session timed out while posting. Please try to re-submit your message."

Don't waste any time on it - I'll just have to use Firefox for sending and at least at the same time I can see other members' photos

and then I'll use Safari for viewing my own photos after posting them (in Firefox) - is that clear!!!

Paul - I just downloaded and installed Chrome.

If you are seeing this - it works.  Because I have already checked and i can see my photos in my own posts.

here goes!

AHA!  IT WORKS! So the problem must be in my system somewhere or in Safari or whatever - at least I can forget about it for now.

Btw, this browser is v. quick.

Dan,
I'm using a MacBook and Safari 5.0.3 with no problems.  I think the problem lies with your system and/or ISP if our recent experience with Comcast is any guide.  Firefox is, of course, another excellent option.
