So I decided that at box speed was under rated so I shot it at 200 and gave the same time as I did for 100 I think the happy point is somewhere in between but 200 is fine. Next roll gets Diafine.

Larry, these are nice.  I like how it's mostly shades of gray.  The detail pops!  Nice job.  What camera was it?

Nice test shots, Larry. Do you want me to test a roll in Xtol?

No as I am going to mix my Xtol this week I just needed to get the 5 Lt jug and I now have one. :-) Speaking of such why did Kodak go with 5 Lt for this package?

Since I have a digital scale, I generally divide my powdered chemicals and make smaller batches.  This has worked for me on Acufine and D-76.

Problem is Xtol has 2 packages and I just don't want to screw it all up so today I am mixing it and then into the big jug. I have a scale also I use it now for Caffinol.

because the original issue with Xtol having a short life had everything to do with the 1 liter package- IIRC it wasn't being sealed correctly at the plant, letting oxygen in and ruining it. So... as long as it's kept in dark, airtight container, it's good for a long time.

I'd like to see the 400 (120) in Xtol 1:1 and maybe the much maligned 1:3!
I guess I'd better order some. Maybe.

Trying to decide whether I should give Tri-X another go.
I really miss Neopan 400.

This is a good Xtol page, a bit out-dated though:

Have you tried the Tmax 400? The new stuff is real nice.

The problem I had (and many others too) was the old Tmax 400 was severely blocked up highlights, and that was with Tmax developer. Maybe I will test the "new" version.

My 120mm 5.6 lens could use at least one more stop (200 ISO). I have seen examples from the new Tmax that appear to have the same problem.

I think I need to do a 400 speed test (120).

The new TMY-2 is a huge improvement over the old stuff and in fact the times for 800 and 400 are the same.
