This is sort of cool. Not $3,000 cool. Maybe $100 cool.

My wife is left-handed but she wouldn't be able to use one of these.  She's so used to doing most other things (besides writing) with her right hand she'd mess it up good and proper. Her mom bought her a pair of left-handed craft scissors for Christmas and she had to take 'em back and exchange 'em for righties.

Not that this has anything to do with anything.  And $3,000 is ridiculous.

Something looks fake about it to me. The numbers and engravings etc just don't look period to me.

If not fake its certainly been re-painted (incorrectly I might add). An authentic Leica IA:

My son is left handed and I used to have so much fun with him and others. When he started little league I told him to tell the coach he was left handed. I already got him a left handed glove... But to remind the coach he needed a left handed bat. I stood there an grinned like all hell at the look on the coaches face.

To this day he will mess with people, we went to a Chinese buffet and he asked waitress for left handed chop sticks. She said OK turned took 3 steps and then stopped. She turned back around and both of us were grinning from ear to ear. She just started laughing. We left her a real nice tip.

Mike, you are correct about it being a fake.  The seller does state in the description that it is a Soviet knock-off, but it must be rare, so he is asking quite a bit.  But then, after he sells that one, maybe he'll find some more to sell.
