has anyone had a play with these?
Specs etc are here

http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=Fujifilm+FinePix+REAL+3D+W3+Digital+Camera&oe=utf-8&client=mozilla&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=8682091621200335356&sa=X&ei=lgS6Tcn4O4ruuAP8vNG3Cw&ved=0CEYQ8gIwAQ#

i had a play and the image on the disply on the back is true 3D. no need for glasses etc.
But i had a thought  when i was handling the camera. While there is definite value in being able to produce 3D Images, for me , should 3D become common place , i think Photography would be losing it's soul.
While the image was quite trippy,i did not inspire me or want to go down the path of 3D snapshooting. It made me think about how much i actually enjoy Film and being able to produce an image that has meaning and depth with Film and Paper, and not be seduced by Hi Tech Wizardry for the sheer sake of it.
I must admit , that while i seen a few Movies in 3D , overall i really am not that impressed with it. Avatar was a great Film in 3D but by and large the other movies that i seen did nothing to add to the viewing experience other than make my Wallet a lot lighter.and the same goes for Photography, i get a lot enjoyment from seeing a Stereoscope, but seeing a Digital 3D image was somewhat of a disappointment.
Maybe i'm getting old, cynical and doddery , but the more hich tech the gadget the more i wish for a simpler life, without the constant electronic noise and flashy lights and Sales persons with flashy white teeth telling me i must have this or that gadget because the one i bought last week is no longer 'in'....

It died out once before, maybe it will be still born this time, and we won't have to put up with it for long.

There's a guy at work who's brought one (or two) in to work.  They're fun to play around with, but the novelty wears off quickly.

How many still have their GAF view masters? I was working in a store when they were all the rage we sold the little slide wheels all day long... the next year I remember all of them in a huge bin 1/2 off.

Interesting aside to all this.  I just got my Radex viewer in the mail today, so I could go through Dad's stereo slides of the family.

Talk about finding things in strange places I went to Goodwill to look for cameras and walked away with a light table for slides. Looks like from the 50s or early 60s. $2.99 They had no idea what it was.

My Son has a Nintindo 3D and it also makes 3 D photos. It was fun for a few minutes but yep Star Treck it is not.
