Hi folks, today I bought a bunch of post-dated transparency film for A$3 a roll. Considering the retail price is A$22-A$25, this seems like a good deal!

Anyway I was wondering what happens to film as it ages. Do the colors start going off? Does it need more developing time? Just wondering if I should mention anything to the lab when I get it developed.

The film is Velvia 100F dated June 05, and Provia 400F dated between Dec 04 and March 06 (now!). And unexpectedly a roll of Velvia 50 with no date.

Any advice appreciated Smiley

Very old film may show some colour shifts, but yours is relatively new. Don't worry, it should be fine.

This picture was shot in 2004 with film that expired in 1998. I'd say it looks pretty good, wouldn't you too?[/url]

Damn I got a better deal I got 20 rolls of Elite chrome 100 , 5 rolls of Elite Chrome 400 and 10 rolls of Tmy P3200 for with tax $41.87. And there is more to be had but I only had the cash in my pocket at the time.

I put it in the freezer as soon as I get it but this stuff was already frozen so I did not worry about it at all.

Cool. I think this was sitting on a store shelf, but I've put it in the freezer now.

I shoot expired slide film on a regular basis.  There seem to be a lot of Elite Chrome 200 out there cheap right now.  I have bought that and Kodachrome at Eckerd Drugs of all places. Hey Larry D where did you get that deal?  How much is left?

Brad

I got it from my local camera store. I left all the Elite chrome 200 and took the 100 and 400. I just never liked many 200 speed films.

I will get you the 200 if you want and you can pay me back.

I've been working through a 100' roll of Velvia (which I paid $5 for), expired 1998. It's a touch on the magenta side, but nothing that can't be fixed after scanning.
