Yes, who would have thought an antique camera could bring nearly $2,000,000? Amazing.

That camera wasn't the only "high profile" purchase at that particular auction. There were several others that went into the 6 figure range. Even the lower end collectible Leicas, such as the IIIc-K cameras, were significantly higher in price than I've noticed in the past. It seems they are now bringing $5,000+.

Actually... ANYTHING Leica seems to be going for crazy money. I just scanned through recently ended auctions of filters for 50mm f1.5 Summarit lenses (I picked one up recently) and saw that original Leitz Summarit UV filters are fetching more than $150... for a filter! Furthermore, the "undesirable" Type-3 50mm Summicron lenses are netting close to $1000. WTF?
