Sorry I've been away so long.  Work has crushed me lately.  Just had these developed and scanned - from shooting in April.  I purchased an Elmar 50 from an American guy in Hamburg.  It had been CLA'd by Reinhardt.  Nickel - early production - the serial number is lower than the starting serial numbers on Erwin Puts pocketbook.  It seems to be about 1932.  Has the old aperture scale - which was a bit of a pest with the VC II meter.  But now I have that iPhone exposure app which measures in thirds of a stop and the apertures of this Elmar come up on it.

Anyway - some samples - it blows me away that this thing from the Depression era can do so well - the clarity is stunning - makes me want to try it out on an M9

The film is the new Portra 400 - it tolerates a lot of under/over exposure - but that is for another thread

Nice shots! The bicycle is normal enough except for the swapped-out handlebars. Wouldn't like to ride it in a hilly area given its lack of front brakes, though! Coaster brakes are just sufficient for the flats...

Great shots, Dan.  I like the expression in the face of the veteran in the Anzac parade.  The Elmar was the favorite of many Leica photographers, and with good reason.

The Maggot Chevy is a 1956 model IIRC. Beautiful machine!

It's a '57 Chrevrolet, and a great shot of it.  They're all great, Dan, but I am especially fond of numbers 2 and 4 (love the tones in the majestic tree trunk).  Very nice performance from gear and operator.  I must try some Portra 400.

Dan - It is a '57, no question.  What fantastic colors in these and all the Portra shots.
