I haven't been shooting anything close to 5 or 6 years so I am way out of the loop. I have been wanting to shoot again.

I am big on slide film, 35mm mostly. What's left in that flavor? Sadly, I know Kodachrome bit the dust. I like subtle color palettes, so evidently my favorite was Kodachrome.

Occasionally, I'll shoot B&W. I'm not picky on B&W films. What's the status on that?

Thanks, guys!

Without knowing where you are, it's a bit hard to say.

Kodak and Fuji both offer choices, although I'm not sure these days on the availability of the specific films.  Fuji Astia, which would better meet your subtle colour requirements may have bitten the dust, and I'm not sure about Sensia either.  There is still some around, so that could be an option for a while.  Provia is OK, as is velvia, but I always preferred Astia myself.  I can't comment much on the Kodak slide film, since I've not shot any for ages.

I've not used much slide film recently, partly due to the increasing processing costs.

With B+W there is still quite a big choice, and it really comes down to picking the film & developer combination that suits you best.

If you're in the US, check out Freestyle (http://www.freestylephoto.biz).
They have the most complete lineup of available film today.

Yes, I'm in the USA.

I still will order film on the internet as I have done in the past anyway.

Astia gone?! Dang...that was my backup film. Grrr.

I see on the freestyle (never thought to shop color film there, I always shop there for B&W stuff) only have one page of film...damn, that's sad. Good thing I have some frozen film.

I know slide processing isn't cheap anymore, but I'm willing to pay. I refuse to use C41 film.

Slide is not that expensive if you do the Wal-Mart send out.
