As a compensation for the end of E-6 processing, my friendly photo lab gave me a well expired (1999) roll of Provia 1600, claiming that it gives funny grain when processed as B&W film.      Is this serious?  I did not know that you could cross-process E-6 film to get usable B&W negatives.

Is there any reliable reference out there in the Net?  Any member has done it?  What are the steps involved?

Thanks for any comment!

I have and though the negatives will look dense they will scan. Diafine HC-110, Rodinal Coffee.. you name it. Rodinal 1-100 for about 1 hour will work.
