Ok - I finally got one.  And these are scans from the first roll - Portra 400.

I has amazing clarity for something made in the same year I was ...

Bravo, Dan, these are wonderful. The colors are excellent, especially your indoor photos.  Nice exposures there, and on your outdoor ones as well.  1948 is nearly ancient for a lens, but not for you and your sharp photog's eye.

Dan - Very nice performance from lens, photographer, and film.  I have a 1946 Simmitar, and am very fond of it.  Below is an example on Kodak Portra 160VC.

James - I recognize those horses!

Dan - nice work.

I love these old lenses.  I have an uncoated Summitar that is just unbeatable, in my opinion.

Dan, you have so many wonderful things to photograph, I'm surprised it took you this long to get a Summitar.  But then I haven't got one yet, so I'll have to work on that.  Beautiful shots on that Portra.

thank you Pete, James, Reed and PF for your very kind comments.

James, your Summitar is older than me!  A very good shot to show its virtues with colour and general rendition.  There is indeed something about it which is difficult to describe - a picture is worth a thousand words, as someone once said

James, your Summitar is older than me!

Well, I am older than mine, and it is in far better condition than I.  You are right about the pleasant rendition of the Summitar.
