The underrated OM-2000 continued to surprise me, along with its featherweight soul-mate, the Cosina-made Zuiko 35-70mm.
I took it to the local nursery where they have a pumpkin decorating day for the kids.

* Nice bokeh

* My girl with her artwork

* Close focusing and sharp, good combination

* That's a crop, sharp, ain't it?

Even hampered with a heavily color-shifted expired *cheap* film, the lens still manages to record details.

OK Yes Sharp and the expired explains the under exposure and grain. Very nice.

I know, I know Larry, I try to minimize using expired films, but they are cheap and still retains a lot of details.

And my stash of fresh 200 ASA films are still hiding somewhere in the stack of boxes, that's what you get with moving.

Will,

Those are nice results.  I've never used the Oly 2000, but I've always had great faith in the 35-70 zoom.  Your results are typically sharp, and the colors brilliant.  The crop shot is great.

Would that getting quality film processing were as easy as it was two years ago.  Processing is going downhill fast here in Southeast Arizona.

Those 35-70 zooms are quite capable if you don't open them too much. And they are so comfortable!

Pumpkin season is coming, I had forgotten about that exotic North American custom.

They look pretty good to me, Will.  I can see the color shift you mention, but nothing bad.  Really, it just
kind of went a bit pastel.
Funny.  Daddy takes his little girl on an outing, and what does he get?  An "I love Mommy" t-shirt.  Wink

See?  We DO have culture, after all.  Smiley

Comments appreciated, gentlemen.

Dennis, before I ran two rolls with this lens, I was a snob thinking, there's no way this Cosina-made fake Zuiko can produce good results as a genuine one (which I have also, the f/3.6 constant max. aperture version).

But it's feather-weight and close-focusing ability won my heart, this lens is a *good* one that will get used often.

Julio, I'd love to take this combo to colorful South American cultures (with a good film of course) Smiley

Dean, my pumpkin can wear t-shirts that says anything and she'll melt my heart with just a smile all the same. I did gave her a jab on that one, though Smiley

Kalle, sounds like I'll enjoy your 'culture' just fine Wink

Nice shots all.  The small 35-70 is my "normal" OM lens -- fitting nicely inside the OM-2n leather eveready case.  I had no idea it was made by Cosina.

James, thank you.
I didn't know either, but I figure John Hermanson knew what he's talking about when he mentioned the fact.  The OM lens info at mir.com website didn't confirm it either way.

There's nothing wrong with the lens other than being lightweight.  It's so different than the solid/heavy f/3.6 version which, I believe is genuine Olympus design and manufactured by themselves.

I love the OM-2000 - nice quality, good metering without complicated battery issues. The Cosina-made zoom is a good one too, and it is all inexpensive these days.

Will - This 35-70 must be the f3.5-4.8 version, which I understand was made by Cosina as the kit lens for the OM-2000.  Mine is the f3.5-4.5 (looks to be even smaller), and is an Olympus product.  I see claims on the 'net that the Cosina doesn't perform up to Zuiko standards, but there's sure nothing wrong with your shots.
