So I went and bought this Kodak Monitor Six-20 folding camera, with the No. 1 Supermatic shutter. All of the speeds sound the same, from 1/10 to 1/400. There's no difference whatsoever in the sound or the motion.
So I own another No. 1 Supermatic, which came from another Monitor that had a rotted-out bellows (this was before I invented the Bel-Jac), and it is in much better condition, with shutter speeds that differ from speed to speed.
They both are marked with the same focal length (101mm), so I'd like to change them out. Anybody done this kind of thing, and if so, how much of a PITA was it?
What tools do I need?

Not a terribly hard job, Pete. You'll need a large pin spanner to remove the shutter retaining ring on the back side of the shutter. Take care not to poke a hole in the bellows. Also, the threads on the back of many of these Supermatics are made from aluminum. Don't booger them or you'll be buggered. That's about it on the back side.
On the front, the main thing you need to watch for is the tin strip that operates the shutter release. Take care not to bend it. There is a linkage attached to that strip which winds its way back to the shutter release button. Looking at the front of the shutter, on the lower right you will see that it has a couple of toggle points. If you close the bellows door when the shutter is out, the bar beneath the shutter can slip under the toggle link. Just make sure it is in the correct position when you put the shutter back in, or you will be taking it all apart again.
Being the same focal length, you should be okay as long as you use the same shims that are behind the shutter. If the focus is off a little when you get it put together, adjust it to be right at infinity and all should be well.

I think Larry is messing with me, indicating that you're willing to do things for him, but not for me because you're "retired". He's a sneaky bastidge.

' Pete, I'm not prejudiced. I don't work on 'em for anyone these days. I don't think you will have trouble doing this. Take your time, take a few digi snaps for reference. You should though have an envelope I sent it out last week. OH! Well, I hadn't checked my mail yesterday, Larry. Got the bribe and documents postage this morning on my way home from church. Thanks!

Dean, a second read of your directions didn't seem as complicated as the first. I believe I will give it a try. Now, if only Kodak had installed the frickin' bellows with screws instead of rivets....
