Sometimes a photo conjures up memories of a time or place that you would really like to visit.

Cabin in Ramsey Canyon, near Hereford Arizona

Does anyone else have some photos that illustrate this feeling?

Thanks,
Dennis

Looks like Shipshewana, Rich.  I need to get my scanner hooked up so I can dig through the archives of the shots I took there.

I've never been up there yet PF. Well, except the Flea Market. This is one they hold over in West Lafayette each fall. I'd love to see your shots of Shipshewana tho, when you get them scanned.

My dad built this in about a week, he told my mother that we would be sleeping in it in a week,, we did --sans roof
One winter we got more than 6 feet of snow, tunnel down to the door and the wood pile like a cave. A Monarch wood cooking stove for heat, no electricity coal oil lamps for light. The outhouse about 30 yards away with last years Monkey Wards catalog nailed to the wall
The three of us lived in it for about 3 years till dad died, in 1947.

Dennis,

Great shot and an excellent idea to get a new thread rolling.

Rich,

Nice pics. Do you have any historical outfit to wear tonight for Halloween?

Ron,

Hats off to the pioneers' spirit, courage and for the hardships they endured--folks like your Dad and his family including or own Ron Bishop.

The cabin your Dad built looks a lot like the first building Claudia's Hinko cousins built as homesteaders north of Galgary, Alberta in western Canada.

Florence seen from Piazzale Michelangelo high above the south bank of the Arno

In Italian it's called Firenze, the city of flowers--where I met and married my fellow art student Claudia aka Simone Laszlop on Oct 24, 1951, 60 years ago. We were there for our 40th to renew our vows and on our 50th anniversary. That's nostalic!

Guys -- I got nuthin'.  I wish I had a time machine, so I could go back to my favorite era, the 1940s, but I don't have any pics of that.

I am enjoying everyone else's pics, though.  Thanks for all the quasi-memories!

Guys,

I'm enjoying all of your photos and comments.  I hope that you keep them coming.  Ron and Les, the personal nature of your photos makes them very memorable, thanks.

I'm doing the annual grouse hunt in Pennsylvania now, which always conjures up pleasant memories.  I have the trusy Olympus 35 RC in hand, so I might (eventually) post pictures.

The Grand River, Fergus, Ontario.  Taken with the Kodak Duex, 2010.

This picture reminds me of when I was young and a canoe trip around the lake at your cottage was a nice way to spend time.

From the Luis Alba negatives (Kodak 3A, 122 size). This photo was probably taken in Minas, Uruguay around 1917.

Thanks again to all who have contributed their own personal "nostalgia" to this post.  I was grouse hunting in Pennsylvania this past week and was reminded of a photo that I took of the neighbor's hunting camp about two years ago.  The day was cold and wet, and the sky was getting dark.  I called the photo "Welcome Home", and I think that the photo conveys my fondness for hunting camps:

Best regards,
