Two weeks back I was in a Conference sponsored by a small but interesting segment of the IT industry that deals with bar codes.
The conference was not bad, learned a few things or two about the latest bar-code reading gadgetry.
But what makes this an interesting proposition was the venue: the Dallas Cowboys' Stadium.

After the conference, we all were treated to an hour long stadium tour.
I don't consider myself a hard-core fan of football, but even so, I am excited to see a real world-class stadium.

* Nothing to do with the stadium, just the delicious Tex-Mex food that they served us at the conference.

* Here we are at one of the entrance to the field (this is *not* the one the Cowboys use in the games)

* Entering the field, everyone immediately looked up and saw the giant screen

* It is impossible to convey how gigantic this screen is using a computer monitor.  This is the single biggest dual display 1080p HD screen in the world.

* The field itself is no less interesting, synthetic grass and get this... synthetic dirt made from rubber-like material so the heels of those football players can "dig" into the field.

* The Cowboys locker room, where you can try on the uniform for size.  The highlight is the rare and expensive wood that they made the locker and benches from.  For what purpose? I don't know, pure opulence, I guess.  As though this place needs more of that.

* Next, the Cowboys Cheerleaders' locker room.  Of course someone had to shout "Shower time!!!" to everyone's amusement.  A lady next to me just rolled her eyes Smiley

* The final stop was one of the luxury suites that they cater to wealthy folks or companies.  That's Barry, our tour guide, who effortlessly recited record-breaking statistics that the stadium is currently holding.

* Check out the view from the suite

* One dot from that screen is probably the size of my TV at home.

* That's what the stadium looks like

Gear: Ricoh GR1s which slips unnoticed into pocket or bag.

Awesome tour! This looks so far from our old and very basic soccer fields...especially the fact that you have cheerleaders!

You probably would have needed something with a 15mm lens on a 35mm body to capture the full size of that place, Will.  It even looks huge on my old tv at home.

Julio, The only thing that balance the extravagance displayed is the fact that this stadium employs more than 1000 people both event-based or ongoing jobs.  And just like that day, the stadium opens for field trips from schools around the area.  And they host charity events, corporate-sponsored community events, and so on.

Larry, the only other camera that I'd rather use that day is the ultra expensive 21mm version of the Ricoh GR1  Smiley
As for the Cowboys, they are okay, they have to regain their former glory one of these days.

Phil, a 12mm Heliar comes to mind Smiley

Will, this is a nice photo-essay, and the first one of yours I've seen (at least in a long time) in color.  Thanks for sneaking the camera in, to get these terrific shots.

Pete, fresh color film and this camera go very well together, I had a blast, an got a couple of puzzled look from iPhone photographers in the tour.  They can't quite correlate the whirring sound from the Ricoh every time I took a snap

Can't they get an app for that?

My disdain for all things Cowboys aside,  these are some great shots.  I have only seen the stadium from the outside.  Never got inside.
