I finally completed my Flickr set on the Olympus Accura View 90 vs Canon Sure Shot Classic 120.

By my estimation, it looks like the Canon won out.

Too bad -- I have a soft spot for anything labeled Olympus.

Larry, so do I!

I don't think this particular Oly is representative of the group, Philip, as it was kind of downtrodden to start with.  The only thing I'm disappointed about is the work I did on it is for naught.  That, and the nasty burn it gave me when I got across the flash circuit!

Phil,

Does the the order of the cameras left to right: Olympus and Canon match the prints seen on your Flickr set?

Just the opposite, Les.  I didn't bother to reshoot that to match the others, but I did mention in the picture descriptions the Canon shot is on the left.

Phil,

I apparently missed the description under each set, which is not so surprising, as my sense of observation has diminished enough to be embarrassing. My eyes can scan the kitchen numerous times looking for an object and not finding it, yet I know I left it there. When a second set of eyes (Claudia's) scans the kitchen, it's almost always found immediately. It could have been on an empty counter and I missed seeing it after scanning that surface 3-4 times. I have no central vision in my right eye (hole in the macula), but my left eye is corrected with glasses to 20/20

I asked the question because the left photos in the Flickr set are better than the ones on the right for exposure and sharpness on most but not all photos. I read all your notes and understand the Oly was not functionally in as good shape as the Canon. Thanks for sharing your experiment.

That's okay, Uncle Les.  I used to work with a guy who would lose a tool, and when I asked what he was looking for, it would be laying right in front of him.  So anytime that happened to anyone else, we said they had T. Keller Syndrome.

Phil,

I've had Raynaud's syndrome as long as we've gone to Florida for the winter months (~16 years). That was the main motivation to avoid the discomfort of New England cold weather on my hands by going to a warm climate during the winter months. What I miss is my long time passion for ice fishing.

Unfortunately, I'm stuck with the T. Keller syndrome for my remaining years, which is correctable as long as I have those second set of blue eyes available.  Apropos, Claudia will have her cataract operation tomorrow morning.

By coincidence, our family physician in the early 1930s was a wonderful Dr. Keller.

Les, I've got a sister who has Raynauds, and sometimes I wonder if I don't have a touch of it too.  And I know I have the Keller Syndrome, because I still can't find my 36mm Walz push-on filter set.  Give Claudia my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
