I just bought some Kodak Supra 800 on line and I have never used it before. I'm used to using Fuji's 800 film and I like that a lot: it reminds me of pushed Tri-X with colour. Smiley   It's very grainy, but very smooth.

But I don't know about the Supra 800.  I've checked around and see pictures that show it as a grainy film but it's hard to compare based on Flickr images, etc.

Has anyone tried both these films and is able to compare them?  Some C41 "grain" is blotchy rather than even and smooth and I'm wondering what I am getting myself into.  Mind you, I'll find out soon enough.

Philip, I don't know as I've ever heard of the Supra line.  Sorry, can't help you there.

Kodak Supra was actually only manufactured from 2000-2002 so discontinuation in 2003 makes sense. It would be the end of what was manufactured in 2002 I suspect. Anyway...you can be sure your film is no older then 2000. It was the replacement for Ektapress PJ800.

I wonder if Kodak recycled the name for something new?

I'd never heard of it either. Until I bought twenty rolls. Cheap.

Smiley Only ten years or so. That's nuttin', sure.

It struck me as an old-fashioned name, like something from the 1940s or '50s.

I remember shooting some back when it was knew, but have no idea what box those would be in.  It did seem grainier than the 400 color, but mostly on underexposures.
