Pete, thanks. It seems to be working now. Is it working for you?

Mark - You mention in your eBay description the 500C has a bright screen. I understand there is no way of knowing what make screen it is, but If you have ever compared your camera to a stock 500C, and are sure yours has a brighter screen, you should add this to your description. A replacement brighter screen should be a good selling point for a 500C.

If you have recently changed light seals in the A24, that would be worth mentioning, also.

For my own information, when you use 120 film in an A24, and get to exposure 12, do you just wind the film on with the magazine crank until it feels slack? Does the magazine need to be removes from the body? I've only used an A12 a few times, so all the A backs are mysterious to me. I love the old "peephole" backs myself, but I do have a couple of A24 backs, which may or may not need servicing.

Len very good point!

I forgot tom say that while I can't say for sure that the focusing screen in the 500C is an acute matte it seems to be just as bright as the acute matte in my 500CM. Both equally bright. Auction ends in two hours!
