There are some storage buildings on a nearby farm that have interested me for a while, and I finally had a chance to slip away and get some photos. It's a pretty abstract set, and I've been experimenting with different crops, color vs. B/W, and different contrast levels. I'm not sure yet which ones I prefer, but I think this one is my favorite. Here's a link to the rest of the set:

Moose,

You have some very nice abstractions there.  I really like the more tightly-cropped examples best, like 1, 6, 8, 14.  Overall, I prefer the B&W renditions the best.  It would be fun to punch up the contrast a bit on some of them.

You are off to a great start already on this subject.  The farm is definitely worth your time and film.

Just out of curiosity, what camera and lens(es) did you use?

I'll agree with Dennis that a little contrast would help the b&w versions.  Good compositions all.

Moose - These are very, very nice.  Looks like you had a lot of fun.  I like this one a lot: http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6055/6342002803_0b3b405e77.jpg.  Yes to the contrast suggestion.

Very nice concept and execution.
I would probably pick the best four and print them big.

I like the golden hues and particularly the one with the GSI logo.
This is done with a very long telephoto lens, isn't it?

Moose, this is a wonderful set of abstract images!  I would never guess that the true function of these items was utilitarian, based solely on your depictions.  This one is my favorite -- I love how the horizontal lines juxtapose against the sloping downward curve:

Thanks for all the comments. The low-contrast versions are the closest to the "real" appearance of the buildings, but as I moved the sliders on the histogram, things just seemed to get a lot more interesting. I wasn't expecting that golden color, but there must be just a bit of it there in the unmanipulated images. I shot these on an overcast day; I wonder what would happen to the colors under blue sky.

I did use a long lens (Canon XT with the 70-200 f/4, making it effectively about 120-320 with the crop sensor), staying at or near the long end for all of them. The buildings are set back from the road, which is good, because I think the compression of the distance really adds to the results.
