A lady was going to throw it out I was also taking my trash out at the same time and saw the case. I asked her for it and it was mine. Brown leather case is all I saw. inside was this and the meter works. It has no shutter speed dile so I figure it was one of the first AE cameras made but I have no idea other than it shows a green light when I can shoot with it by selecting the Auto setting or the Aperture setting.

It is not a rangefinder it is Zone Focus.

A Canon T50 SLR.  A relative was going to trash it; it seems in mint condition, even has the Canon Olympic lens cap on its f1.8 50 mm lens. Seems to work perfectly.  Since it has no way to set ANY

Some people don't know what they are getting rid of, and it takes an astute garbage picker like our Reverend Larry to zero in on that.  Good for you, bro, and have fun!

Something went wrong with my computer in the middle of this post.  To continue:  There is no real way to set ANY exposure parameters; it is an idiot's delight, just focus and shoot.  I got the dedicated flash for it for $25 and I'm good to go.  The camera will accept ASA settings from 25 or so to 1600, but the flash only accepts 100 and 400.  Go figure.  The flash is clever, it sets the synch at 1/60 and adjusts the diaphragm via an infrared beam!  Wowzer!

Sadly, unlike the Pentax ME or ME Super there is no real upgrade path with this little "gem."  A few FD mount lenses will work with it, but with no way to exert any control over the exposure I can't imagine trying macro photography, for example.

So, I have a good shooter for risky situations where I wouldn't want to risk a "real" camera.  And that f1.8 lens if I want to pick up an AE-1....
