I recently bought a Canon AE-1 Program body for $10 because the film advance doesn't work.  Is there a way to get it un-stuck without spending a lot of money on it, or have I just bought a "parts" camera?

I tried a new battery and that didn't work.  I attached my film winder (I already have an AE-1P that does work) and that didn't do the trick either.  The inner sprocket wheels turn manually but I didn't do a lot of this.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you figure it out let me know as I have one just like it and in the same shape. Only difference is mine has the shutter wide open too.

Pete, first thing to check is if the rewind button is stuck.    You say the film does not advance, but didn't mention if the shutter operates.  Sometimes you can take the bottom off a camera, and manipulate the levers that are then exposed to get things working again.  I see a lot of posts over on Kyphoto about Canon 'A' series cameras.  I'll do a little research and let you know what comes up.
