Here's something I never learned - what do I use to clean a fogged/dirty lens? I've got a couple that have fog that will not come off with just compressed air - what do I use? An old T-Shirt?

Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) applied with a soft paper tissue works for me.

My god not some T-shirt you are wearing.  Ever see all the Leitz lenses with cleaning marks made from shirt and tie cleaning in the 50's?

Blow off as much debris as you can.  I use Kim Wipes and Windex - fold and wet half, wipe on wet, wipe off with the dry side.  Go easy and with no pressure.  If there is grit that didn't blow off, wipe only once with the tissue then change it, or the piece of grit could scratch the coating.

Make sure you wash your hands first - often you wipe on fingerprint oil.

Lint free delicate task wipers - I don't really know if you can buy them in the store or whether they are strictly an industrial use product.

You might find KimWipes at a dental supply house.  They come in a popup box similar to the small Kleenex box.  BTW don't use Kleenex.  Some of those are treated.  KimWipes are best.
Ditto what Mike said about clean hands.  (soap & water - no lotion)

In USA, MicroTools used to sell KimWipes.

If you can't find suitable wipes, cotton balls from the drug store work well.

Your local veterinarian, or optomitrist (sp?) should be able to tighten you up on Kim Wipes
