Santiago, you're certainly right about that -- it's a beautiful hand-grip on that pistol.  Naturally, the title of this thread drew me in with great curiosity.  Thanks for sharing!

I don't own any handguns, or any guns at all, but I grew up with them in the house (dad was in law enforcement and a hunter), and of course there was the occasional weapon in my 20 years in the USN. Smiley  So I ain't agin' 'em, I just choose not to own 'em.

Oh gollygosh, now I won't be able to concentrate on anything all day, I'll keep having to come back to the PC to get another look (fix) at these pics.  Oh how I miss my 1911 A1!

Santiago!  Will !  what do you make of this Huh

It belonged to my wife's grandfather who was a Bank Manager in far North Queensland when it was a bit like the Wild West.  The Bank issued this pistol to him as he had the most cash on hand, and in the gold rush days in that area there were plenty who would have been happy to relieve him of the responsibility.

It looks like a Webley of some kind

Larry - I have been inspired to check it out - so far I have established that the RIC stands for Royal Irish Constabulary - and that it was manufactured by Webley & Scott - it is probably a .455 calibre - which, as they say, had "stopping power" (just ask Clint Eastwood).
