Santiago loves his 45's Smiley I seem to recall he has a WWII vintage Remington Rand was it?

Dan, that sure doesn't look like the break top Webley's I'm used to seeing. They were pretty ubiquitous here in Canada too Smiley More pics would sure wet my whistle. With enough details I could probably make a post on an enthusiast site I frequent and get you a lot of details on your revolver.

Pity she's in such rough looking shape. That lever in the front makes me suspect its a Bull Dog revolver. How big is it?

Larry - I have been inspired to check it out - so far I have established that the RIC stands for Royal Irish Constabulary - and that it was manufactured by Webley & Scott - it is probably a .455 calibre - which, as they say, had "stopping power" (just ask Clint Eastwood).

Dan

Could be in the ginourmous .500 Tanter calibre!

Edited to add: Mike, I also thought about a Brittish Bulldog, but the RIC markings, http://www.oldguns.ca/oldguns.ca/Firearms_for_sale/Pages/SOLD_Webley_and_Scott_New_Model_RIC.html#2

BTW, MY GI is a 1943 Remington Rand, and I love it!

I always admired the quality of manufacture of the Webley revolvers, top-break or gate loading.  The fit and finish of the action parts was second to none - must have been very costly to produce.
