Now they can get down to the business of righting the ship.  Maybe the board will make some wholesale changes at the top, and leave the company leaner, but more in line with reality.

I'm sure film is not anywhere near their main concerns, selling their gelatin biz and all.

If I was concerned, might not be a bad time to buy a few rolls. I'm thinking Tri-X 120.

In reading business news over the last few months, Kodak filling sounded inevitable, especially as they continued to deny they were in such serious trouble. I'm surprised there isn't more mention today of this on the forums I look at. This is on the photo.net Classic forum, with a link to a good article in the Economist:
http://photo.net/classic-cameras-forum/00ZtSF I don't have a good feeling for the survival of Kodak film. Of course it could be spun off and purchased by another company or private equity firm, but I wonder from a business standpoint if there is enough profit potential for that to happen. Maybe China will buy the name and machinery, but will they ever put out a quality product, or just a cheap one? I feel bad for the Kodak employees who very well may lose their pensions. It is my understanding Chapter 11 can allow a corporation to walk away from pension obligations, although maybe it doesn't always turn out that way. If all Kodak film goes the way of Kodachrome it may make Fuji and Ilford stronger.

I hope so.  I know they've made lots of mistakes, but I find it hard to imagine a world without Kodak (I felt the same way about the three US car manufacturers).
