Edsel. Oly om-40 (ompc) Part of a set I am working on. Autoface. Taken in Minden Nebraska. Anyone ever been? Tons of old cars any pretty much anything else you can stick in a museum. They also have a history of old outboard fishing motors. How cool is that! Here's a couple from this cool location. Any guesses as to make, model? THE END! Sorry if I hogged your BW......

If you ever find yourself along I 80 going through Nebraska and you have a couple of hours stop in here.
Minden Nebraska They have hundreds of cars and trucks tractors. None in what I would call show condition. It is not that kind of museum. I would call this a museum of what the average joe used everyday from then until now. All vehicles are in working order but not spotless as you can see.
They have a couple of Stanley steamers which are very strange looking little cars. Carrriages, firetrucks, trains farm equipment. They have model living rooms from the last 200 years. And a room full of the history or the washing machine. Yup a kerosene powered wash machine.
And just as you leave cameras!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not gonna tell.....

Couple of hours? Hah!! You'd barely get to see just "most" of the cars in a couple of hours. Not sure you could see everything in a couple of days. And yes, they've even got a small shelf of old cameras. I think they were in the same building with the collection of refrigerators, cookstoves and washing machines. Or was it the building with the old TV sets, radios and sewing machines?
I'll have to look for the negs from the last time I was up there. And as Travis said, it's definitely worth the stop.

Well depends on how fast you can move. Couple of hours. I think we were there for about 4. Here is a little perspective. This is row number 2 or 3 out of about 75. Bad picture......

Sorry, Travis, I got tired of waiting for my dialup connection to finish loading images and didn't finish reading all of your message - including the part about the cameras. Alright Craig, how's about another view of that one? For those who've ever read, "The Grapes of Wrath", you may remember the Joads went to California in a Hudson Super-Six. And this one would be a little rough riding on normal roads, but would be nice in snow or mud.

And looking down at the end of the row of your last one, looks like they've moved the stuffed, dead horse that's hitched to a hearse.

Hey there, Todd! That was me posting back to one of the original thread shots, the image I thought sung loudest.

I always notice a run down looking building just off I-80 (can actually see it plainly when driving on I-80) somewhere in Nebraska that's full of old cars. It looks like it's frozen in time and no one ever uses it. Is that around Minden?

Very cool!
I just finished reading the lastest issue of Octane. This is a great mag about classic/vintage cars, both Euro and American (mostly Euro).
This is by far the best auto mag there is.
Anyway, Leno writes for them as well as others and his article this month was about him getting a ticket in a Stanley Steamer going 70mph. Apparently, IIRC, it had caught fire (wood chassis) and the only good way to put it out is to increase speed.
Nice photos, however (sorry to get off track). Well done especially due to the difficult, flat lighting.
There is another nice auto sideshow in SD that has a Tucker! It has always been my photographic ambition to photograph all the Tuckers.

Minden is actually about 20 miles south just east of Kearney. And it is about 10-15 very large buildings with big Windmill sticking up. Well worth the time if you stop. http://www.pioneervillage.org/http://

Really interesting place and photos.
That's a '58 Mercury on top. It may be one of those "Turnpike Cruiser" models that had a rectractable rear window.
So what is this place and who are "they"? Do you pay to get in/on?
They wouldn't let you walk around stuff like that in the east. Afraid you might stub your toe and sue them.
Nice to know time-warp places like this exist.

Better yet you can touch!!!!!!! Shock
Yeah that shot of the window and qtr was a cool old car. Huge boat. I have the front somewhere but not scanned yet.
I believe admission about somewhere under 10 bucks. But well worth it. There is a campground RV area next to it and your price will cover for 2 days. if you really want to look at everything you might need whole day at least.
They also have a steam powered belt driven merry go round. Hav eto find that.
Heck nothign else to do in the middle of Nebraska except Cabelas.
